In jail, we provide the inmates with encouraging books, Bibles, and Bible studies to help establish their walk with Christ.
When released, even those with changed lives face tremendous obstacles upon release. Things that seem the most simple in life can be the most difficult for those starting again from ground zero.
Housing, food, basic hygiene items, clothes appropriate for interviews and a job search, bus passes and transportation, just to name a few, become overwhelming immediate needs.
Ascend volunteers come alongside those women who are dreaming of a better life and a new beginning. In addition to helping determine their needs and obtain necessities, they also encourage, mentor, locate church homes, and help them establish new communities of friends who provide our ladies with an ongoing source of strength.
